Danielle Dickson

How did you get started as an author?

I've always been a write since I was a little girl, but I never even thought about attempting to publish anything I'd written until I met my now best friend. She encouraged me to write my first book One Moment and I haven't looked back since.

What was your first book?

My first published book was One Moment in my Little Hollow series. It's an emotionally charged second chance romance that deals with tragedy and some other hard truths in life.

What are you writing about in the anthology?

The hero in my story; Jack, has narcolepsy and uses fitness and other factors to combat his illness. He and his best friends are taking a vacation to an adult summer camp where he meets the sarcastic and clumsy Felicity.

Why are you taking part in this anthology?

To let anyone know, no matter what condition or illness you may have, you're no less worthy than anyone else to find love.

What is your favorite line from your manuscript?

He scrubbed a hand over the scruff on his chiseled jaw. “You’re not running for the hills?”
I pitied the girls before me that couldn’t see him for all he was. “Not yet, Jack. Not yet.”

Did you research your story?

I did, mostly on the internet but my friends girlfriend has narcolepsy so I got a firsthand interview with someone with the condition.

Is there any one thing you have to have when writing?

My jar of sweets and a Spotify playlist. I can't write without both.

What influences your work?

My love of the written word first and foremost. I pull inspiration from music, TV shows, real life, anything that will get my creative juices flowing really. I NEED to tell the stories I’m writing and give voices to characters that have been filling my head. It’s as simple as needing to write that keeps me going.
