I started writing when I was in my teens, and after university I moved into blogging and reviewing. Then I was pushed by a close friend who is an author to get up and get writing.

To help raise awareness of my chosen topic and to promote and raise money for the charity we are supporting.
No, I am very familiar with the medical condition I chose to write about as myself, a member of my family and several of my friends suffer with.

I have a HUGE list of them lol. I'll go with one of the authors I've had on the favourite list the longest and say Penelope Douglas.
Bully by Penelope Douglas. It was the first indie book I ever read and its one I reread over and over. It's one of my absolute favourite books by her, along with Punk 57 and for me, both of those have a powerful message. Words have power <3
